Rural and indigenous committee
Introduction
The goal of this year's committee is to promote rural and indigenous pharmacy by making students aware of the many opportunities available in these areas.
We are expanding the committee this year by appointing one representative with an interest in rural and indigenous health from each pharmacy school. Efforts have been made to begin a tradition of annual committee meetings in a rural and remote location. This meeting will involve discussing rural and indigenous issues and ways in which NAPSA can help promote pharmacy placements in these areas. Selected people will have a great opportunity to become involved in discussing rural and indigenous pharmacy issues, and working with NAPSA in achieving our goals. Further details of the selection process and responsibilities of the roles will be forwarded to your NAPSA reps when finalised.
NAPSA is currently investigating ways to make it easier for students to organise rural and remote placements within pharmacy via the NAPSA website. The dream is for the NAPSA website to contain information that will, hopefully, make interstate rural placements more accessible.
We want your help in promoting rural pharmacy. Send reports about your rural placement experiences to the committee chair, Andrew Pryor. Hopefully, these articles will be published in Placebo. Additionally we envisage publishing rural pharmacy advertisements in Placebo looking for employing students either during the holidays or during their 5th year.
