Pharmacy Week Wrap Up

Around Australia, NAPSA branches promoted the work of Pharmacists to the Public. For most of us, this meant a day out in a Shopping Centre.

“My first Pharmacy Week was definitely an exciting experience! We gave out jelly beans to children whilst providing self care cards to their parents. Many thanks to everyone who helped out!” -Jacqui Carbines, GUAPS

“Pharmacy Awareness Week was a hit in both Orange and Wagga. We had a great response from both communities and successfully showed them the services local pharmacists can offer them. Thanks to all who manned the stalls on the day, especially our pharmacists!” -Amy Minett, Pharmers

For more information on Pharmacy Week, including how to get involved next year, see your NAPSA Representative!

Pharmacy Cricket
‘The fastest growing activity in pharmacy’

Pharmacy Cricket is suggesting to the students at each of the pharmacy schools in Australia they consider starting their cricket team to play against the staff, other schools e.g. The Doctors, the engineers or whoever.

Pharmacy Cricket is offering modest seeding funds (cricket balls, ground hire etc) to start this process.

What is required is one or two who are keen cricketers to get the ball rolling and we are available to offer whatever help and assistance we are able.

This idea has grown from the six States National Pharmacy Cricket Carnival played in NSW last January at which several students who were attending NAPSA played with their State team on a particular day.

19th European’ Students Conference
Hosted by the Berlin Medical School

The European Students' Conference (ESC) is one of the largest biomedical conferences worldwide. Every year the ESC takes place at the Charité, Medical Faculty of Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. The ESC is a platform for the promotion of the scientific offspring in the fields of biomedical research. Young scientists from over 40 countries, mainly from Eastern and Western Europe, are invited to present the findings of their research projects to an international audience and to discuss their results with an interdisciplinary approach.

There will be events with ethical topics, dealing with the medical progress, alternative medicine, communication between doctor and patient etc. In close collaboration established scientists will provide the participants with feedback to help improving the style and content of their presentation as well as presenting and offering career opportunities.

The 5-days program consists of interactive sessions, workshops and lectures. These events will be chaired by distinguished professors, Nobel Prize Winners, Ambassadors and non-profit organizations. In addition we plan cultural events and activities like Berlin Sightseeing Tour, a trip to Potsdam, a Welcome Dinner and a great Farewell Party to encourage the participants to get in contact for an intercultural and personal exchange of views and personally explore the history and culture of Berlin.
